This camp has been built for AA, A and All Star players that are looking to advance next season. The program is rigorous and physically demanding to help players challenge themselves and other players to elevate their games to a higher-level. Our experienced first-class staff will teach you what it takes to play and succeed at the high school, junior, college and professional level. This program will provide each player with the experience of how a college hockey player trains on and off the ice.

This program will educate your player on what it takes on and off the ice to reach the next level. UAH Head Coach Corbett and the UAH Coaching staff, along with TPH instructors will be instructors during this week. Players will be pushed outside of their comfort zone. Perhaps most importantly, classroom sessions will feature topics that are sure to provide players with cutting edge information and advice on how to achieve their hockey goals. Camp FAQs:

  •  Where do most of the players come from?
    • Majority of players are from Atlanta, Huntsville, and Nashville. We also draw players for this camp from Florida, Birmingham, Knoxville, Memphis and Charlotte.
  • What is the typical player to coach ratio?
    • 4 coaches per group of 25, and UAH Chargers coaches are on the ice as well.
  • Is there specific power skating or edge work instruction?
    • Yes, skating of all sorts will be part of the camp curriculum.
  • How much of it is skill development (skating, stick handling, passing, shooting, etc)? How much is strategy: Decision making, special teams, systems, etc?
    • 50-60% of the on ice content will be geared towards skill development. Decision making will be taught/worked on through small area games. There will not be any special teams or systems work during that camp. That being said, during the game and applicable drills coaches will correct and teach general positioning on all areas of the ice.
  • Is there body contact instruction?
    • Yes, for the older groups. There will be no contact during the games but we will encourage puck protection, stick battles, etc.
  • How much is conditioning on the ice?
    • There will be no drills just for conditioning (unless for behavior issues). The ice sessions will have the pace that provides conditioning within the drills.
  • Is any of it position specific?
    • Yes, though not focused on these aspects as much as skill development. Will have a lot of small area stations that will work on transitions, coverage, and corner battles and such.
  • Lastly, would this camp be appropriate for a kid who played AA this year who has aspiration to make a AAA team and eventually play in college if possible?
    • Yes, this camp has been built for AA, A and All Star players that are looking to advance next season.
